We left the telescopes open
To clear the mind,
To shine into the dark corners,
To widen the lens,
To face the stubborn questions.
We left the telescopes open-
From the scientists of the past
To today’s flat-earth dreamers-
Those baptized by digital influencers
And scroll-fed fantasists-
Need sharper tools
To wake from sugarcoated daydreams.
We left the telescopes open
So justice might weep-
For the death of education,
For the silence of thought-
The lifeboat of progress-
Not dragged by anchors of fear,
By narrow-minded, selfish crooks.
And if one of you digs
For a golden calf
Beneath the belly of a black ox,
May your footing hold-
May you not lose your way,
Worshipping shadows
Never cast by truth,
Not even revealed
By science’s reflective flames.
